We attended the International Textile Fair PPM QUILT SHOW BRNO. It is the largest exhibition dedicated to combined textile techniques in Central and Eastern Europe. Since 2022, it has been taking place at the International Trade Fair grounds in Brno. The exhibition regularly features leading authors of artistic quilts.

From April 21st to 23rd, the patchwork and quilting exhibitions took place in Brno, Czech Republic, combined with a trade fair for sewing machines, accessories, and materials for handicrafts - PPM QUILT SHOW BRNO 2023. We were there and would like to share our impressions from this event.

It's worth mentioning that this was the second edition of the exhibitions in Brno; they were previously held in Prague. On an area of 6000 square meters, the works of hundreds of artists from different countries were presented. It was an extraordinary event for patchwork and quilting enthusiasts, as well as creators who use fabrics in artistic production. There were also booths for those seeking modern technological solutions in sewing machines.

The trade fair booths showcased the latest achievements in sewing and quilting machines. We had the opportunity to visit, among others, the booth of our friends from the STRIMA Czech Republic division, where we could not only observe the machines in action but also test them and consult with excellent advisors possessing expert knowledge of sewing and machine mechanics.

The newest models of sewing machines from brands such as Pfaff, Husqvarna Viking, Texi, and Janome were exhibited. Some of them particularly interested patchwork fans due to their large work area and suitability for quilting large projects.

One of the most fascinating presentations was the machine of the newest generation - Pfaff Creative Icon 2, which features a built-in projector displaying a grid of guiding lines on the fabric, enabling precise embroidery of even intricate stitches. The booths also offered pressing equipment, sewing accessories, various fabrics, and sewing gadgets.

After familiarizing ourselves with the technical capabilities of modern sewing machines, we proceeded to the exhibition area. There, we could admire both traditional quilts with classic patterns and modern interpretations and trends in patchwork and quilting. Polish creators were also represented at the exhibition, where 96 works from the series "quilts closed in suitcases" were showcased, as well as original armchairs upholstered with patchwork techniques.

The accompanying competition to the exhibition was an opportunity to honor the works of artists from around the world, including those from Poland, who received the highest awards: in the "Energy" category, first place was awarded to Sylwia Ignatowska for the work "Wild Chase," while second place went to Barbara Pieczyńska for the work "Solar Energy." In the "Wedding Rings" category, Sylwia Ignatowska once again took first place with the work "Stone Rings." Congratulations!

This event was not only a venue for presenting technical novelties but also a platform for meetings, exchange of experiences, and inspiration for sewing enthusiasts. Over the course of several intense days, enthusiasts of this art had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the latest tools and technologies that facilitate the process of creative creation. Furthermore, numerous workshops, panel discussions, and lectures provided not only professional knowledge but also enabled valuable connections with other enthusiasts.
