11-02-2011 Strima Patchwork Workshops - thank you for your Emotions and Energy

The most exciting event of this year - Strima Patchwork Workshops - came to an end. During 10 days, from February 1st to 10th, on the wooden floor in Atrium in Stary Browar sewing enthusiasts created extraordinary works. This winter holidays Poznan celebrated Emotions and Energy.

Group of 16 participants from the closed section of workshops - professionals selected on the basis of their previous achievements - sewed real patchwork masterpieces. Each of competitors created their own individual patchwork and a fragment of a collective work - the beautiful covers, which will be auctioned to help children in hospices. We congratulate and thank all the participants. Special applauses goes to Ela Cios and to Ania Slawinska - the authors of winning works, rewarded with JANOME MEMORY CRAFT 6600 PROFESSIONAL machines. Ela charmed us with the original, geometric patchwork inspired by op-art and Ania with innovative form of hanging patchwork, about which she wrote: "my crazy work talk about my (our?) “spin" patchworking. About this (health) nut - drill which brought us all to the workshops”. It's true, patchwork ladies were full of passion, willing of creation and artistic sensibility.

We also thank all participants of Open Patchwork Workshops. Your emotions and energy were the most inspiring for us. Every day, dozens of enthusiasts of sewing, men and women, adults and children, those who came specially for the workshops, but also casual visitors of Stary Browar, tried their strength in the art of patchwork. We believe that the experience will bring you new passion and we hope to meet you at the next edition of the workshops.

When summing up the biggest Polish patchwork event we must mention about the people that stand behind the success of the workshops. We thank Malgorzata "Shayneen" Nowak for passed knowledge and for creative atmosphere, Julita Pierzchala for coordinating the Open Workshops, Malgorzata Walczak and Janusz Koza for the care of the whole event. Special thanks we send for "good spirit" of workshops, Agnieszka Wisniewska from Stary Browar.
