… black chair is a diamond (STRIMA) found on a beach in a white sand (white chairs). This diamond is a No. 1 seller on a market, the rest is competitors… Signatures and photos on the wall are customers, who cling to Strima like bees to the hive.

Biala, wysoka sciana, snieznobiale podlogi i otwarta, swietlista przestrzen. W rozgardiaszu przeladowanych ciezkimi, przemyslowymi maszynami stoisk, stoisko polskiej firmy STRIMA bylo oaza spokoju i nowoczesnego myslenia marketingowego. Ten minimalistyczny wystroj intrygowal i przyciagal klientow zagubionych w targowym labiryncie. Monumentalna sciana okazala sie byc otwarta ksiega, w ktorej kazdy z odwiedzajacych mogl zapisac swoja obecnosc na IMB 2009, skladajac podpis. Dzieki temu prostemu zabiegowi, STRIMA pozwolila swoim gosciom wspoltworzyc stoisko. Wpisujacy sie w biala ksiege STRIMY klienci zauwazali drugi nurtujacy element wystroju – 6 rownych rzedow bialych krzesel, z ktorych jedno, ukryte w lewym dolnym rogu, bylo czarne. Ten przelamujacy dominujaca biel element, wraz z haslem przewodnim ‘BIG DIFFERENCE’, sklanial do zastanowienia nad znaczeniem architektury stoiska. Czarne krzeslo mialo byc symbolem STRIMY, ktora wyroznia sie na tle ludzaco do siebie podobnych, zwyczajnych firm. To wlasnie STRIMA okazala sie byc czarnym koniem targow w Kolonii, ktory pozostawil konkurencje daleko w tyle. Ponadto, czarny detal w rogu bialego czworoboku stanowil nawiazanie do bialo-czarnego, niezwykle wyrazistego logo firmy.

White monumental wall, white floors and open, luminous space. STRIMA’s stand was a real oasis of peace and modern marketing thought placed among the disorder of other stalls over-packed with industrial machines. Such minimalist design was hugely intriguing to the customers who were lost in the fair labyrinth. The high white wall turned out to be an open book where everyone participating in IMB 2009 could sign in, thus leaving a trace of their presence at the fair. Thanks to such procedure STRIMA allowed its clients to actively participate in the creation of the stall. While signing STRIMA’s White Book, visitors had a chance to spot yet another fascinating aspect of design, namely 6 even rows of white chairs, among which, one was pitch black. This element, accompanied by the fair motto ‘BIG DIFFERENCE’ made people ponder on the overall meaning of the stall’s architecture. Black chair was supposed to symbolise STRIMA, which stood out against other strikingly similar and ordinary companies. STRIMA turned out to be a black horse of IMB 2009, leaving competition far behind. What is more, black element set against white rectangular background resembled the black-and-white, distinctive logo of the company. STRIMA marked its presence at the IMB 2009 fair by showing a well-designed stand which not only was attractive to the visitors, but also conveyed a message that was in accord with the company’s marketing strategy.

It represents to me like America White house. It represents like Mr Obama ruling the world.

It represents that we deliver the chair to all the parts of the world and it represents that there is no discrimination between black and white race.

The design of Strima’s IMB 2009 stand represents the importance of recognizing the diversity of persons. In the study of industrial production there are two elements in the middle of the system. These are the machines and the operators of the machines. There is a risk not to make a difference between the two and to treat the operators in the same way as machines. Machines are all the same, human beings are not. Strima powerfully expressed that with the black chair in the midst of the white ones. It is important for a factory management team to recognize the value of the individuality of each of the machine operators. Strima has done much to encourage this attitude. An example is the Ironing Championships which have been received with great success. At the conclusion of IMB, the white wall was covered with signatures, an arrangement of colors. In the same way a beautiful picture is created when the individuality of each person is recognized.
The winner is Edoardo Borghi (Italy) for "The black chair is an excuse for a loser, but a new way for a winner".
He will take Canon PowerShot SD990 IS (Canon IXUS 980 IS) camera.
Congratulations!
Thank you all for taking part! We really appreciate it. Thank you once again.

one compared to many
black more dark than any.
if you want a penny
you must act
different to many.
a black chair on the left side down
is better than any brown.
89 white
show all you might
have thought
about the one who bought
the black, and now
is back
in the world of any.
